Zane Grey is prolific. He has the ability to put you there with his vivid descriptions. I have not been to the north rim of the Grand Canyon until I read this book. The characters, mainly Mormons, who save the life of a young lunger. The family also has a half Navajo woman they raised. a worthless son who goes against his family and and assortment of rustlers with a couple of these guys who still have some morals. It is the usual story of greed. There is a wild stallion, a part wolf dog and a droopy eared burro who contribute to the story.. The Navajos are portrayed in a positive way and good since I have enjoyed interacting with them in the past. Overall it is a good read.Product details

he is a great writer
I enjoyed the story.
This was I believe the best two stories by Zane Grey and I have read many books by Zane Grey. These two stories made me feel like I was there,it was a great read and I have read many many books of all kind. This book made me feel like I had to just keep reading till I finally finished the complete book.I would recommend this book to all my family and friends who enjoy reading.
I enjoy southern Utah and northern Arizona and this book takes place in that area making it even more enjoyable.
Zane Grey's mastery of building the individuals in the story line keeps you focused on the overall purpose of his book. Enjoyable reading.
Reading this because I'm reading the biography of Zane Grey. Not exactly up to modern standards as a good book. I'm skipping over a lot of descriptions and boggling over the "period" cultural depictions.
I'm reading Zane Grey's books in what I believe is chronological order and this is an early book. I'm only 6 books in but Heritage of the Desert is my favorite so far. I literally couldn't put it down and finished it in one reading. Thankfully I have at least another 100 books of his to read.
